On this episode of The Horror we’ll hear the Columbia Workshop adaptation of the J. Sheridan Le Fanu story, Carmilla. First published in 1872, this tale preceded Dracula by 25 years. The radio version first aired July 28, 1940.

More vampires this Wednesday with an episode from the Columbia Workshop!
It’s another vampire story today with this episode from The Hall Of Fantasy. From June 22, 1953 here is, The Marquise Of Death.
We’ll hear from Quiet, Please on this episode with their story from December 8, 1947 titled, Some People Don’t Die. There are some scratchy areas in this one, as there are with many episodes from this series, but the sound is pretty good for the most part.
With the second of five vampire stories we’ll hear this month, here’s CBS Radio Mystery Theater with their episode from April 25, 1974 titled, Sunset To Sunrise.
Creeps By Night was a short-lived series that aired from February to August, 1944. This episode, a story of zombies to open our month long salute to the undead, is titled The Walking Dead. It first aired May 16, 1944.
Our month of vampires stories (each Wednesday) begins with an old favorite from The Hermit’s Cave. We’ll hear The Vampire’s Desire. I don’t have a solid air date for this one, but it most likely came from the 1936-1947 WJR run of the series.
Next Wednesday, a vampire tale from CBS Radio Mystery Theater.
Derek wrote in and asked to hear this great little story from CBS Radio Mystery Theater. Here’s The Real Printer’s Devil, which first aired July 17, 1974. Thanks for the suggestion, Derek.
Wednesday begins our special October programming! A vampire tale each Wednesday, and a story of the not quite dead each Saturday. Hope you enjoy them!
On this episode of The Horror we’ll hear from Lights Out with their story titled, Little Old Lady. Originally heard in November of 1937, this recording is most likely from a rebroadcast done May 25, 1943.
